Ranked the second-busiest cruise port in the nation, the massive Port Everglades is located two miles from downtown Fort Lauderdale. In fact, plans for the millennium include the $10 million expansion of two terminals.
In 1998, some 2.2 million passengers traveled on 30 port-based cruise ships, and the port handles more than 5,500 vessel calls each year.

Several cruise ship naming plans took part recently. Princess Cruises dedicated two new ships. Royal Caribbean's 74,140-ton Enchantment of the Sea, one of the largest and newest ships in the world. In the future, 5 more ships will be added to the resident 30, which sail during the traditional winter season and 6 ships will offer year-round cursing.

Many tour of the Greater Fort Lauderdale are as on water. Water taxis tour can our famed Intracoastal on their way to almost anywhere they want to go, whether it's sightseeing, dining at the many waterfront restaurants or shopping along Las Olas Boulevard. Water Taxi of Fort Lauderdale provides the highly popular service. With one -way tickets for $7.50, round trip for $14, and an all day pass for $16, the water cabs will go anywhere within the nearly seven miles of Intracoastal Waterway, between Port Everglades and Commercial Boulevard.
